The Eye Of The Story
The Lady In Red
I create everything on my iPhone SE, using the Meritum Paint, Fused and CP Pro apps, then process the images in Instagram, before up-pixellating to 5000 (using the BatchImageResizerLite app) then post them on my art shop website on Pixels.com - where they are available to purchase as framed and canvas prints (you select the size and style) and much more, including T-Shirts.
I’ve now lived in Margate for nearly three months and I’m loving it. There are so many great places to hang-out in (my favourite is Little Swift, where they make a perfect spicy, Bloody Mary) and the people are so friendly. That is where I am creating this on my laptop right now. The view is amazing.
There are lots of galleries and vintage, antique junk and charity shops, particularly on Northdown Road, where I live.
The Turner Contemporary Gallery is just a short walk away.
This wonderful installation in The Sunley Gallery in The Turner Contemporary is by Cassi Namoda.
On April 26th, I was lucky enough to be invited to the preview night of the wonderful TM Davy exhibition at the massive Carl Freedman Gallery, also a short walk from my home.
This was one my favourites. I believe that the subject is the artist’s boyfriend.
A selfie in the mirror of his piece ‘Wardrobe’
I was lucky enough to meet Tim Davy himself, we had a good chat, he was utterly charming, and readily obliged me with a joint selfie. I asked him if ‘Wardrobe’ was inspired by CS Lewis and he replied that it was, along with Tolkien.
The following day, I went to see The Spring Show at TKE Studios (also a short walk from my home), curated by Tracy Emin. This is held in a wonderful building which looks like it was formerly a public bathhouse. I only took a couple of photos, but the quality of the works (including more by TM Davy) was brilliant, and very eclectic. I wish that I’d taken more pics.
‘As Two Collide’ by Lola Strong Brett
‘Is This What You Want?’ by Tracy Emin
The show runs until July 27th, but the gallery is only open from 2 - 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Now to continue my own little exhibition of photos, iPhone Phinger Paintings and the resulting digital mashups, which incidentally, would look great displayed in large light boxes.
